About Us
We met our first year at CWU and got married after graduation in 1984. Greg has been in Industrial Engineering at The Boeing Company for 20 years. I retired in 2000 from Corporate America, managing Data Network Designs now focusing full time on my passion; the Cavaliers.
Raised in an air force family, my Father a fighter pilot for 30 years, I've had the opportunity to live all over the world and embrace amazing experiences and life long friendships. Twenty five years in horses and living in England with my family in the 70's, I worked for a breeder of Steeple Chase Racing Thoroughbreds and became well versed on the fundamentals of balance, structure & movement in winning racehorses. Ten years, in Rodeo, once back in the States, taught me to compete with my own personal best. After bi-lateral hip replacements forced me out of horses, the Cavalier became my passion.
Covington Cavaliers was established in 1994. Our first Cavalier encounter, in 1992 was on a sailing trip . This most delightful blenheim spaniel was on a neighboring sail boat greeting all passers by. We knew then that a Cavalier was in our future. It was 2 years later that we began our quest for ethical breeders who were members of the Cavalier community and willing to mentour us long term. We were priviledged to aquire quality foundation stock from top breeders and most importantly, their continued mentouring. We joined the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club USA, its regional affiliates, The American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, Cavaliers of Puget Sound and English Cavalier Club. We attended our first National Specialty in 1995 . We came home empty handed in the award departement, but scoared with a wealth of new knowledge and a realization that the Cavalier would consume the rest of our lives.
Primarily showing our dogs ourselves in both the AKC and CKCSC-USA, we have earned AKC titles on 42 dogs and CKCSC-USA titles on 17 (15 home bred) as well as breeding the 2009 National Members Club show's Best In Show Winner, the 2002 & 2003 CKCSC-USA National Specialty winners, the 2002 & 2007 Reserve National Specialty winners. Our objective is to produce quality dogs that exemplify breed type, beauty, confirmation and temperament. We strive to maintain elegance in movement and style, keeping the Cavalier worthy of its continued royal status. And most importantly, never lose sight of the ultimate goal: the future health of our breed.
