About Us

Greg & Heidi Mohn

Heidi and Greg Mohn established Covington Cavaliers in 1994. They are members of the National breed clubs (The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club-USA, The American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club and the English Cavalier Club) and several regional affiliates. Both Heidi and Greg have served on the Board of Directors for regional clubs for several terms.

Heidi is a Championship Show Judge for the CKCSC-USA. She is home full time with her Cavaliers after retiring from corporate America in 2000. Previously an avid horsewoman successfully training and competing hunter/jumpers in England, she worked for a winning Steeple Chase Thoroughbred breeder. That is where the foundation for structure, movement & animal husbandry developed. Once back in the US, she rodeoed for nearly 10 years (All Around Cowgirl, NWRA 1980) until a bi-lateral hip replacement forced her to change directions. Greg has worked 25 years for Boeing and enjoys sports & hunting.

This is a team effort. We don’t have children, so our dogs are our immediate family. Our kennel name/affix of Covington is registered in the CKCSC-USA and AKC. We are proud to have the Covington name associated with the enormous effort and commitment that goes into preserving the integrity of the breed. Every puppy we breed is dual registered in the CKCSC-USA and AKC, and every pedigree will include only dogs from ethical kennels all over the world that share those same principles.

Recognized as one of the 6 most significant Cavalier kennels in the United States, our dogs don’t actually live in kennels. They are incorporated into our home & our daily lives revolve around them. Puppies are hand raised with full time devotion to their needs & socialization. We do sell some puppies as pets, yet our primary reason for breeding is for our own aspiration of continually improving the quality of our breeding program. Over generations we carefully evaluate and select the best representatives of the breed and proudly present those dogs in a competitive show ring.

We continue to produce more Covington owned and bred champions every year . Our dogs have been awarded multiple Register of Merits (ROMS) in both the CKCSC-USA and AKC. We have qualified and competed with honors at the most prestigious dog shows in the world: Westminster Kennel Club at Madison Square Garden and The AKC Eukanuba Invitational. We have also qualified on several dogs to compete at Crufts in England.

No matter how many titles and ribbons we’ve collected over the years, nothing compares with the love we have for our dogs. We spend our time with uncomplicated, loving, true comfort spaniels who give loyalty and adoration without judgment or condition. We cherish the friendships we have made and the lives, including our own, that are changed because of these amazing toy spaniels. We are blessed to see how beautifully our veterans have aged with health and youthfulness, how we wish they could live forever. It has been our privilege–more so than our passion--that for the last 18 years we have had Cavaliers in our life, along with the benefits and responsibilities that come with them.
